For everyone that’s been clamouring for a sapphic version of series like Love Island, then Australian pop icon Dannii Minogue’s I Kissed A Girl is just what you’ve been waiting for.

Starring Dannii Minogue as the host and queer actor Layton Williams as the voiceover narrator,  I Kissed A Girl is set to premiere on BBC Three “soon”, though no official release date has been announced for the upcoming series.

The new series is a spin-off of BBC Three’s I Kissed A Boy, the UK’s first-ever gay dating show which aired to high acclaim in May 2023.

The series will likely follow the same format as its predecessor, which saw a number of gay and bisexual male love-seekers transported to an Italian Masseria where romance could bloom under the watchful eye of ‘Cupid-in-chief’ Dannii Minogue.

Unfortunately, reality TV dating shows aren’t necessarily known for forging the most successful relationships, and, at the time of reporting, none of the couples that were together at the end of filming for I Kissed A Boy remain together today.

Despite the lacklustre track record for finding love, the hugely successful show was almost immediately renewed for a second season, which will this time focus entirely on queer women.

“Hi…my name is Cupid and this year I’m aiming more love arrows in Italy,” wrote Minogue in a post on X.

“This time for the girls,” added the Australian pop icon before confirming that the series would soon be making its way to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. She also shared the first teaser trailer.

The clip offers fans a sneak peek at this year’s contestants, though none have been officially announced as of yet. Assuming the show will follow the same format as its predecessor, fans can expect to see a total of ten contestants—five couples—and potential surprise contestants as the show progresses.

In the trailer, Minogue can be seen swirling around in a stunning lavender dress. As she turns to face the camera the host says: “Me? Cupid? I’m ready.”
