Catch Panti Bliss at HMV this Friday, where she will be exclusively signing copies of her documentary film THE QUEEN OF IRELAND.
THE QUEEN OF IRELAND is a documentary film that follows Rory’s journey from the small Mayo town of Ballinrobe to striding the world stage. The film takes us behind the scenes with his alter ego Panti in the year she became the symbol of Ireland’s march towards marriage equality.
Directed by Conor Horgan and produced by Blinder Films, the film builds up a multi-faceted picture of a complex and compelling character through behind the scenes footage and interviews with friends, peers and protégés, including Bunny, Tonie Walsh, Colm O’Gorman, Shirley Temple Bar, Una Mullally, David Norris, the O’Neill family, the other half of CANDI PANTI, Angelo Pitillo, long time collaborators Niall Sweeney and Philip McMahon.
It’s not just that the film offers a big, warm, congratulatory hug for a nation which finally learned to stop worrying and love its own people. It’s not only that it’s the most important social document of the century, thus far. – The Irish Times
It’s bright and loud and vivid and entertaining (and a bit dirty) but also has some important things to say, some resounding comments to shout in from the fringes of society. – Irish Examiner
The Queen of Ireland is essential viewing. – The Outmost
Panti Bliss aka Rory O’Neill will sign copies of The Queen of Ireland in HMV on Henry Street at 5PM on November 13.
The Queen of Ireland is on sale nationwide for €12.99.
