The spectacular International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is in full swing, with the first shows and events having started on May 6. With an incredible lineup of productions from Ireland and around the world, this festival is a celebration of creativity, storytelling and diversity. And now, GCN’s lucky readers have a chance to win tickets to one of two selected performances taking place on May 13!

Each year, the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival celebrates the artistry and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, inviting queer artists to share their stories and experiences. In 2024, the festival is celebrating its 21st edition, with a programme that highlights cultural exchanges and international collaborations.

Among the incredible shows featured in the programme for this year’s International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is Sketches Invented and Drawn, a raw and evocative monologue in which Johan Svensson traces the journey of a life lived in the cracks of history. From Devon to Gothenburg, Naples to London, the play tells the untold story of the gay men who populate our past and present.

The opening performance for Sketches Invented and Drawn is taking place on May 13 at 7:30pm at the Outhouse Theatre on Capel Street, Dublin.

Another highlight of this year’s programme is And They Were Roommates, a show created by Yannis Didaskalou with the company Faltsoi Ensemble, where the audience is led through the exhibition of a love story by characters who impersonate Ancient Greek heroes. In this innovative show, two women become Achilles and Patroclus and share their first homoerotic love, through mythology and literature.

The opening performance for And They Were Roommates is taking place on May 13 at 9pm at DV8, Dublin.
