The Ultimate Guide To Galway Pride 2018

Here are some of the wonderful highlights running throughout the week for Galway's Pride Festival.

Galway Pride kicked off yesterday evening with the Pride of Galway Awards. Amongst the worthy winners were Bi+ Ireland, Galway Together For Yes and Club Gass.

This is only the start of what is lined up to be a fabulous week to be out west. Here are just some of the highlights taking place over the next 6 days.

 

Tuesday Highlight: Queering Activism – Galway Community Pride

This is a panel discussion with local and national activists regarding the ways their activism affects the queer community. Speakers to be announced soon.

This event is being held in Teach Solais, which is conveniently located near the city centre is an accessible venue with a gender-neutral bathroom.

Wedsnesday Highlight: Pride Cocktail Party

A Pride Cocktail Party Extravaganza with all cocktails 2 for €10 all night long. Party starts in Nova Bar from 4pm.

Thursday Highlight: The 34th Screening @ Pálás Galway

‘The 34th’ tells the story of the driven and dedicated people who formed Marriage Equality in Ireland and developed it into a highly effective grassroots force with one clear goal in mind – the extension of Civil Marriage to same-sex couples. Through revealing interviews and archive material, former board members and staff outline the strategising, fierce battles, sheer hard graft and personal cost of running such an all-consuming campaign.

After the screening, we’ll be hosting a Q&A with Gráinne Healy, Orla Howard, and Linda Cullen

Friday Highlight: Mother @ The Róisín Dubh

Mother is making her first visit to the City of the Tribes on Friday, August 17, with DJs Phil and Ruth pumping out electropop tunes for the queer masses.

‘From their weekly club night in Dublin, their infamous festival sets from Electric Picnic to Body & Soul, their annual Pride Block Party, the biggest pride party in Dublin to their general hijinks & disco messing, these gays know how to party’

Going strong for the past 8 years with resident DJs blasting out the best old school disco and electro under the mirror ball, in an explosion of sequins and confetti, Mother is finally coming to Galway.’

Saturday Highlight: Club GASS @ The Róisín Dubh

Club GASS @ Galway Pride

Kiki St Clair hosts the largest ever GASS party – 10 Drag Queens, 5 DJs, 4 Bars, 3 Floors, 1 incredible party!

Club GASS is Galway’s longest running LGBT night, renowned for its fierce drag displays, stomping disco hits and the most up-for-it crowd in town

The action kicks off 3pm in our specially transformed Pride Beer Garden. Join your host Kiki St Clair on the decks with special performances from the Galway Queens. Meanwhile DJ Gerry Moore takes to the decks in the upstairs club blasting out the golden oldies

The party heats up at 8pm as Kiki, Davina, Paul, Pixie, Dizzy, Regina, Dylatrix, Vianna, Poppy and Donnatella ignite the GASS stage with an extravaganza of drag

Later in the night join DJ Rob downstairs for a glittering UV party while upstairs DJs Dizzy & guests belt out the best gay floor fillers to keep everyone dancing on the gayest night of the year.
