Believe it or not – Vladimir has, this time, actually called Elton John to discuss LGBT rights.

Last week, it was reported that Elton John reached out to Russian president Putin to discuss “ridiculous” anti-gay laws while speaking at an event in Ukraine.

It seemed like Putin was all for the meeting, when Elton posted on Instagram that the president actually phoned him for a chat. The Kremlin then denied the conversation took place.

Another day goes by and it surfaces that the call from Putin was merely some Russian pranksters having some fun with the singer.

Well now, if you can believe it, we have yet another development to the Elton vs Putin saga. Kremlin reps have confirmed that the notoriously homophobic Russian president has, this time, called Elton to apologise for any “offence” caused by the pranksters – and has offered to meet with the UK singer to discuss LGBT rights, when and if their schedules allow it.

“Putin called him and said, ‘I know you were pranked by those telephone guys, don’t be offended by them, they’re harmless, but that of course doesn’t excuse them,’” Kremlin rep, Dmitry Peskov said.

“And Putin said he knows how popular a performer Elton John is. If in the future their schedules allow, he’s ready to meet with him and discuss any questions that interest him.”

Elton John’s camp hasn’t made any statement yet.
