Pansexual and bisexual Olympic figure skater Amber Glenn was joined by influencer Lena Lemon whilst recreating scenes from the hit series Heated Rivalry for HBO Max.

At the beginning of June, Amber shared her love for Heated Rivalry during an interview with Access Online, stating how she wished for a lesbian rendition of the show. Her wish was fulfilled on June 30, with the release of HBO Max’s “love letter” to the series.

The short video depicts Amber and Lena recreating many iconic moments from the show, such as the steamy water bottle scene from the very first episode. ‘All The Things She Said’ by t.A.T.u plays in the background as Amber completes an impressive figure skating routine.

The video has already racked up over 225,000 views on Instagram and 20,000 views on YouTube in the few days after it was published. Viewers are exploding with support in the comments, many of whom are calling for more.

“I need six seasons and a movie please and thank you,” one YouTube commenter says.

“I’m actually obsessed, I need the full sapphic figure skater edition of Heated Rivalry pronto,” says another.

Amber Glenn’s involvement with this project comes as no surprise, as she was the first openly queer woman to compete in Olympic figure skating.

Amber came out in 2019 and has attributed that experience to her being able to fully embrace her identity, no longer conforming to others’ expectations.

As a three-time US champion and Olympic gold winner, Amber used her Olympic debut as an opportunity to support the LGBTQ+ community and other marginalised communities during a time of political unrest in the United States.

“I hope I can use my platform and my voice throughout these Games to try and encourage people to stay strong in these hard times,” Amber said at the time.

“I know that a lot of people say ‘You’re just an athlete — stick to your job, shut up about politics’, but politics affects us all. It’s something I will not just be quiet about because it is something that affects us in our everyday lives.”

Amber continues to use her public platform to speak out on issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community, inspiring many young figure skaters to be true to themselves.
