Openly gay actress, Ellen Page, grilled US Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz, on discrimination towards LGBT people in the workplace – and it was all caught on tape.

Ellen Page attended the Iowa State Fair last week – and who happened to be doing an appearance? None other than staunch Christian, Republican candidate, Ted Cruz.

Watch as the two butt heads of the “persecution of gays” and “discrimination in the workplace” in front of a crowd of cameras and spectators.

Cruz, who didn’t know he was speaking to an Oscar nominated actress, was caught off guard when Page asked, “What about the question about LGBT people being fired for being gay or trans?”

Cruz responded, as they all do, with a spiel about religious freedoms being at risk. He said, “Well, what we’re seeing right now, we’re seeing Bible-believing Christians being persecuted for living according to their faith.”

Page pushed the topic a bit more, but Cruz was not interested in a debate.

After the confrontation, Cruz was asked if he knew that the woman grilling him was Ellen Page. He responded, “No, no I did not.”

Rumour has it that Page was in Iowa doing an assignment for Vice.
