Saturday’s GLAAD Media Awards saw Ellen Page present ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress and trans activist Laverne Cox the Stephen F. Kolzak award.

The Kolzak award is presented annually to an individual for ”making a significant difference in promoting equality for the community.”

Introducing Cox to the stage, the newly out Page said, “‘Many of you know that I officially came out on Valentine’s Day, and one of the best things that came from that is to publicly show support for the people who I admire and give me courage. And I’m here to do just that tonight for one of my hero’s Laverne Cox.”

Also honoured at the 25th ceremony was Jennifer Lopez with the Vanguard award, while Shane Bitney Crone‘s Bridegroom won best documentary and Behind the Candelabra for Best TV movie or mini-series.
