Crowd erupts in cheers as Nevada Sen. Kelvin Atkinson proposes to his long time partner in The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, while celebrating a ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that overturned Nevada’s ban on same-sex marriages.

Sen. Atkinson made history by coming out last year while making a speech that opposed the controversial ban on same-sex marriages in the state of Nevada. He and his partner Sherwood Howard have been a couple for over six years.
