A video tribute to Freddie Mercury filmed in celebration of Sydney Mardi Gras has gone viral, generating more than a million hits so far.
The video, featuring Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir and local drag artists, was filmed in one continuous take on a wet Sunday at Darling Harbour, Sydney.
“The video was shot in one continuous, unedited take,” video organiser Dan Murphy told Aussie LGBT site Same Same.
“The weather on Sunday was pretty wild so we squeezed in takes between thunder, lightning, rain and wind. All the moustaches stayed on though!”
Sydney Mardi Gras, one of the world’s largest LGBT celebrations annually attracting hundreds of thousands of revellers from around the world, runs February 20- March 8.
