Russian YouTube channel, ChebuRussia TV, caught horrifying footage of what it’s like for gay couples to hold hands in public in Moscow.

The social experiment was conducted in the wake of same-sex marriage being legalised in the United States and in Ireland, to international appraisal. However, as this video shows, attitudes couldn’t be more different in Russia, as LGBT people face discrimination on a daily basis, perpetuated by Putin’s “gay propaganda” law.

The footage was shot by a third party videographer who was walking in front of the two men with a hidden camera.
