WATCH: The Powerful Video For Wilderdrop's New LGBT+ Advocacy Single

Wilderdrop's music video depicts the struggles of LGBT+ immigrants and it is some really powerful stuff. The EP launch raised funds for Rainbow Road.

Props to Irish-Canadian musician Kevin Murphy, aka Wilderdrop, who has released a brand new EP, Lay Me Down, the launch of which raised much needed funds for Rainbow Railroad, a charity working to extricate LGBT+ individuals from countries where their lives are in danger.

This year alone, Rainbow Railroad has helped save 118 people (with nearly a quarter coming from Chechnya, where a dangerous anti-gay crackdown is ongoing). Currently, the group is working on between 40 and 60 cases, and with each of them costing between €3,500 -€7,000, they are in urgent need of funds.

For Murphy, who you might remember featured in our weddings issue with his Rocky Horror themed wedding to husband, Rob, Wildertop and the EP are the culmination of a dream to bring his music to audiences that he made good on.

“Last year Rainbow Railroad had more than 600 requests for help,” says Kevin. “To meet a fraction of the demand they continue to need support, from volunteers and for funding.

I hope that the launch will help raise some much-needed funds for Rainbow Railroad, and raise awareness of the ongoing work organisations like this do to try to promote human rights protection for LGBT+ people across the world.”

Tracks can now all be heard/bought on all platforms such as iTunes, Spotify, or directly on their Facebook page.
