Police in Moscow have arrested several armed men who attacked demonstrators at an International Women’s Day rally.
Demonstrators, who held rainbow flags and placards against homophobia and sexism, were attacked by a hostile vigilante group brandishing knives and machetes.
Police intervened and detained the attackers, who also pelted activists with eggs. Among the 100 participants in the sanction rally were members of the Moscow Rainbow Association and LGBT activists Igor Iasine, Nikolay Bayev, Evgeniy Pisemsky.
