WWE legend Pat Patterson has come out as gay in a revealing interview.
The wrestling icon, who has been a part of World Wrestling Entertainment (formerly World Wrestling Federation) since the 1970s, spoke at length about his sexuality for the first time ever in a new reality series Legends’ House.
“For once in my life, I’m gonna be me now,” said an emotional Patterson. “I survived all this, being gay … I lived with that for 50-something years.”
The WWE Hall of Famer brought his fellow wrestling legends to tears at his admission and was met with warm acceptance.
During his time in the WWE, Patterson became the first ever Intercontinental Champion, Hardcore Champion and also held the Tag Team Championship title when he partnered up with Rocky Johnson, father of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
Throughout the 90s he was a regular star, and featured in many backstage storylines.
