About Irish Landmark Trust
Irish Landmark is a non-profit organisation that finds interesting and unusual properties that are in need of conservation, and they give them new life!
Since 1992, they have been turning historic buildings into truly special self-catering holiday accommodation. Their properties range from lighthouses and schoolhouses, to castles and gate lodges. By making these beautiful buildings available for holiday lettings, they make sure Ireland’s heritage can be enjoyed by all, both today and for future generations.
As an educational charity, their primary aim is to not only conserve and sustain iconic buildings but to also share them with a wider audience too. That’s why Irish Landmark properties are living buildings, not museum settings.
Irish Landmark currently has 31 unique and charming properties located in some of Irelands most dramatic settings. You can choose from the stunning coastline of Co Antrim ( Magherintemple Gatelodge in Ballycastle, Drum Gatelodge and The Kiln Wing in Bushmills), to the Galley Head Lighthouse perched on the dramatic cliffs overlooking St George’s Channel in Southern Cork. If you are looking for a city break you could stay in the utterly charming Merrion Mews (complete with in-use stables) close to St Stephens Green in Dublin City or a relaxing break away in the endearing Annaghmore Schoolhouse in Co Sligo.
There are so many areas to explore, great buildings to learn about and lasting memories to be made….and a lot of their properties are dog friendly too!
Finally … it might not feel like your holiday is anything but a relaxing indulgence, but when you stay in an Irish Landmark property, you’re part of a community that’s keeping heritage alive.
