A former contestant on the X-Factor has been slammed for comparing a mishap by Olly Murs to an HIV diagnosis
When Olly Murrs revealed Monica Michaels was leaving the show ahead of schedule, Steve Brookstein responded on Twitter. The first ever X-Factor winner compared the blunder to a doctor telling a patient that they are HIV positive.
Dr Murs, "Sorry you have HIV, actually no, sorry I'm wrong. You haven't. My mistake. Hold on, yes, sorry you have HIV. Sorry." #XFactor

The tweet caused a backlash from angry Tweeters. But Brookstein was not deterred.
On Sunday, he tweeted again changing the word HIV to genital warts:
Dr Murs, "I'm afraid you have genital warts, hold on, nope my mistake, you're fine. Wait, sorry no, no, Yep you have warts, genital warts"

And throughout the day, he continued to Tweet and ReTweet responses to his *joke*
After all that first world wanky bullshit I had to deal with tonight I'm off to bed. Thoughts with those suffering in France and Syria.

Meanwhile, Olly Mrs apologised on Twitter for his mistake:
I apologise to everyone tonight I made a massive f%#k up at the end. It was so tense!! I'm still learning & hope that never happens again!
