Halloween 2016 is just around the corner, and picking a costume can be a dreaded experience for some, so we’ve put together 5 Halloween Costumes For Lesbians In 2016 to give you some inspiration

The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder which can only mean one thing – Halloween is fast approaching! To help you decide what costume to wear this year, we’ve put together 5 of the best Halloween costumes for lesbian women (well, any woman really). So let’s get into this.

1. Eleven

Eleven from stranger things, crying with blood coming out of her nose is the perfect Halloween costume for lesbians

First up is Eleven. This year, Netflix’s Stranger Things has taken the world by storm, and one of the most memorable characters is Eleven. A blonde lacefront wig, fake blood dripping from your nose, a pink knee-length dress, a blue jacket, some white socks with green and orange stripes and a pair of Converse are all you need to complete this look.

If you’re looking to go the extra mile, get yourself a box of Eggos (American style waffles), or make a whole armful of them yourself with cardboard boxes and some expert drawing skills.

2. Barb

Barb, one of the best halloween costumes for lesbians this year, from stranger things

Still riding the Stranger Things train, dressing up as Nancy’s best friend who she ditches at a party is one of the best Halloween costumes for lesbian women this year. It can go either two ways. Alive Barb, or Upside-Down Barb.

For inspiration, check out this hilarious portrayal of Barb on SNL.

If you’re going to be Alive Barb with her “distinctive look”, you’ll need to get yourself a “bright red, Ronald McDonald” wig, “old granny glasses and a librarian blouse.” Match it up with ’80s style jeans, Ugg boots and a ring bound folder and you’re there.

For Upside-Down Barb, you’ll need to get a similar outfit, but make it look old, decayed and dirty because she’s been in the Upside-Down. You’ll also need a slimy black slug to regurgitate whenever you meet someone new, and some latex to create that rotten flesh look for Barb’s face.

Check out this makeup tutorial below from 5 minutes in to see how to recreate Upside-Down Barb’s face.

3. Melania Trump

Melania Trump in a white dress and stilettos, which is one of the best Halloween costumes for lesbians in 2016

One of the most ridiculed moments of 2016 was Melania Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention. She ripped off Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech which led the internet to respond with some hilarious memes.

To complete this Holloween costume, you’ll need a white dress, a long, light brown wig with gentle waves (or your own hair), and stilettos.

But what will really make this costume work is not just the visuals, but the accent and plagiarising quotes. Nail down Melania’s Russian accent and use it when you spontaneously drop in famous quotes like “Life is like a box of chocolates”, “Why so serious?” and “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming” into your conversations. People will definitely remember you!

Bonus points if you can learn off Michelle Obama’s speech verbatim and spout it off when anyone asks who you are.

4. Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters from this year's movie in suits, which is a great Halloween costume for lesbians

This year the much anticipated all-female Ghostbusters reboot received mixed reviews at the box office, but you can be sure that there’ll be a few eradicators of poltergeists roaming the streets this year.

To pull off the Ghostbusters look, you’ll need some black boots, a beige jumpsuit, some orange and white striped material, gloves, a belt and of course the proton pack to send those ghouls packing.

Bonus points if there are four of you dressed up as the team.

5. Shark Attack Girl

Blake Lively in The shallows as shark attack girl, a great Halloween costume for lesbians

This year Blake Lively took to cinema screens to tell the story of a surfer, trapped on a rock by a great white shark.

Ok not one of the most talked about films, but the costume is pretty easy to pull off. Gget some wet look mouse for your hair, grab yourself a wetsuit, shred some of it so it looks like you’ve been bitten by a shark, pour on some fake blood and you’re good to go.

Bonus points if you get one of those surfboard chords that wrap around your ankle so your board doesn’t get washed away – just be careful not to trip on it.
