Novelist Melanie Murphy uses her platform on TikTok and YouTube to discuss her journey from a would-be writer to a published novelist. Murphy’s novels If Only and Glass Houses have become best-selling hits in Ireland after their releases in 2019 and 2022, respectively. In addition to posting bookish content, Murphy also posts candid videos about her struggles with disordered eating and sexuality.

If you consider yourself an avid ‘Booktoker’ and you don’t follow Kevin Kelly, you need to fix that right away! Formerly known as the ‘Irish Reader’ on his YouTube channel, Kelly has taken to TikTok to capitalise on the popularity of the platform’s community of readers. On his page, Kelly posts content about what he’s reading, his own journey as a writer, and, of course, Taylor Swift blind-ranking videos.

Known primarily as a YouTuber, Ridayh Khalaf joined TikTok in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdowns (just like the rest of us). Prior to joining the platform, Riyadh was already well-known as the host of the BBC series Queer Britain. When Riyadh posted his coming out video on YouTube in 2016, the video was met with widespread support from the Irish LGBTQ+ community and allies alike. Today, the content creator boasts 61,800 followers on TikTok and 370,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.

This Dublin-based TikToker can always be found out on the town having a great time decked out in a sequin top and high-heeled shoes. While Jack Swift’s TikTok is primarily dedicated to posting OOTDs (Outfits of the Day) and makeup looks, this content creator has stolen the city’s hearts and is easily one of the most recognisable Irish LGBTQ+ TikTokers around, with 67,500 thousand followers and 6.3 million views on his page.

You can find content from KEGS on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, all centred around the Northern Irish influencer’s bohemian lifestyle. Known for his jet-setting adventures, KEGS has lived in Australia, Thailand, Bali and Tulum, but still calls Loughmacrory in County Tyrone his home. KEGS has also been extremely vocal on his social media about his hair transplant surgery that he received in Turkey. KEGS untethered lease on life makes him a joy to see on our FYPs.
