Mother Presents YESTIVAL: THISISPOPBABY & Peaches Live will celebrate the Yes vote of the same-sex marriage referendum 2015 so don’t miss these five acts

Mother Presents YESTIVAL: THISISPOPBABY & Peaches Live on the 21 May 2016 is set to be a fantastic celebration of the anniversary of Ireland’s referendum on same-sex marriage.

In the run up to the anniversary of Ireland becoming the first country to legalise same-sex marriage by referendum, we’re taking a look at five of the things you won’t want to miss this Saturday!

First up is The RubberBandits who first rose to fame in 2010 with their popular song “Horse Outside“. The satirical hip-hop duo take Irish culture, chew it up and regurgitate it out like a party girl who can take a cherry stem and spit it out all tied up in a neat bow. The Rubberbandits are hilarious, and not to be missed!

Next on the list is a combination of the two things that everyone loves, but never thought to combine – popular music and Irish dancing. ProdiJIG won the third season of Got To Dance in 2012 by performing a contemporary take on Irish dancing to popular songs such as Beyoncé’s Run The World (Girls). This blend of Irish traditional dancing and current music is sure to get the crowd at YESTIVAL reliving their days in the Gaeltacht and those terribly awkward Céilí!

Next up is supergirl group SUGARRUSH – starring Panti, Veda and Shirley Templar. Alone, these three queens are formidable, but combined their wit, talent and lip syncing abilities sure to impress the crowds at YESTIVAL on Saturday. Panti, known colloquially as the Queen of Ireland, has become an international icon following her 2015 Noble Call speech, featuring in this year’s TIME 100 Most Influential List.

British comedian and drag queen Jonny Woo will also be performing at YESTIVAL this year. Jonny Woo, who owns his own bar in East London will be bringing his signature mix of comedy and performance to the Dublin based festival.

And finally… Peaches! If you didn’t see it already, Peaches featured in our current version of GCN available for download here. The Canadian electronic artist is known for her sexually explicit lyrics, and her recent album Rub features some NSFW videos like the one below. Her live show promises to entertain with her own unique mix of music and performance.

Tickets for YESTIVAL are available here. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic day and an amazing way to celebrate an equal Ireland!
