Dining Out Ireland, the social club for gay men to meet and make friendships while enjoying some fabulous food, celebrated its 20th birthday with a Gala Dinner at Wynn’s Hotel. Two of the stars of Gogglebox Ireland, gay best friends John and Dave, also made an appearance at the event as special guests, to celebrate with the 60 members of the club.

Dining Out was founded in April 2002 and for 20 years now they have organised dinners twice a month in different restaurants all around Dublin. Usually, there are between 15 and 30 men in attendance at every dinner and they sometimes also organise weekends away.

For their 20th birthday, the club decided to go big with a Gala dinner at Wynn’s Hotel, where 60 members were present. And Gogglebox Ireland fan favourites John Sullivan and Dave Baxter were only too happy to attend.

The two famous best friends were featured in last year’s episode where the stars of Gogglebox were shown an episode of Prime Time that looked back at the days before homosexuality was decriminalised in Ireland, in a powerful statement against homophobia.

The duo entertained the crowd at the gala dinner by selecting the winner of a ‘Best Dressed’ of the night award and for presenting dining vouchers for a total amount of €1500.

Dining Out represents a unique opportunity for men of all ages to form new friendships while visiting restaurants suitable for all budgets. The club also remained active during lockdown by organising Zoom calls or outdoor picnics for their members.

Their dinners are usually held on the second Friday and the last Saturday of the month and the budget for the meals is kept between €45 and €60 per person.

If you wish to know more about them or join the club, visit their website here and prepare to enjoy great food and even better company.
