Mother to host huge celebration of LGBTQ+ club culture at St Patrick's Festival 2023

The wonderful folks at Mother and the St Patrick's Festival are once again teaming up for an emphatic queer party on Thursday, March 16.

Following on from the success of last year’s collaboration, Mother is once again teaming up with the St Patrick’s Festival to present an unmissable queer party as part of the 2023 programme. Taking place on Thursday, March 16, Cultúr Club will be a special night of live music, performance and art paying homage to the transformative power of the dancefloor and the Irish LGBTQ+ club scene.

The event will span four stages across the festival quarter in the National Museum of Ireland, showcasing the talents of the country’s finest queer DJs, drag performers, artists, cabaret stars and more, traversing musical styles including pop, disco, electro, techno and beyond.

There is truly something for everyone on the line-up, and the occasion will even play host to the first-ever LGBTQ+ Céilí, or Géilí as they call it, led by PJ Kirby of the I’m Grand Man podcast. And if that isn’t enough, Queen of Ireland Panti Bliss will also perform a special dance number with her Dancing with the Stars partner Denys Salmon, fresh off the block from the hit RTÉ show.

Other exciting acts featuring on the night are Elaine Mai, MayKay, Sinéad White, Bobbi Arlo, Lewwab, Pastiche and Tim Chadwick, all of whom are ready to blow the bricks off of Collins Barracks.

SEANCHOÍCHE, a brilliant storytelling night founded in Dublin, will take over the Tent Beag stage with tales to enthrall and entrance. Festival-goers will get their own opportunity to steal the spotlight, with ordinary people telling extraordinary stories.

To wrap things up, Mother DJs will present an all-night queer dance party in Tent Mór joined by the gorgeous OINK dancers and an unbeatable army of drag performers Pixie Woo, Anziety, Shaqira Knightly and Viola Gayvis.

Speaking about Cultúr Club, St Patrick’s Festival CEO Richard Tierney said: “Ireland’s LGBTQ+ scene has boasted some of the most legendary and cutting-edge club nights – and Cultúr Club is sure to add to this legacy.

“At our core, St. Patrick’s Festival is very much of a celebration of diversity and so it makes sense for us to collaborate with Mother again, and to expand even further on what we did in Festival Quarter last year.”

Adding to this, Mother co-founder Cormac Cashman commented: “St. Patrick’s Eve has been one of the biggest nights for clubbing in Ireland for as long as I can remember.

“This St. Patrick’s Eve we’ll be celebrating clubbing as cultural expression; for the LGBTQ+ community in particular clubbing provides not only a vital means of expression of identity, but also an essential safe space, a place to meet and be with each other.

“We’re so proud to programme some of Ireland’s finest performers, DJs, drag queens & dancers to help us celebrate the opening of our national festival,” he continued.
