Queer band ARXX, a self-proclaimed “Alt-Rock Gal Pal Duo”, has been making music together since 2017. They previously headlined the House of Vans Next Era show and supported artists like Black Honey, Liz Lawrence and Irish favourites Pillow Queens on their headline tours.

Clara Townsend and Hanni Pidduck, the pair behind the Brighton-based group, are credited with being two of the UK’s most promising up-and-coming artists, after their new singles like ‘Call Me Crazy’ and ‘Deep’ gained popularity with a very diverse fanbase.

Loved for their lean production, wobbly synth lines, emphatic vocals and exhilarating live shows, many praise the confidence and authenticity their music holds. Moreover, after playing gigs all over the UK and Europe and reaching over 1.7 million streams on Spotify, what many of their fans like most is their “knack for bruising riffs and deadpan lyrics”, as NME puts it.

Now, just after their debut album Ride or Die was released, they announced that they are coming to Ireland, much to the excitement of their supporters. After opening their tour with a gig in Cork yesterday, Monday, April 25, ARXX is still due to visit Kilkenny, Galway, Dublin, Limerick and Belfast.

A limited number of tickets are still on sale with prices starting from €12.00, depending on location, but GCN has one pair ready to give away to a lucky reader for the Dublin show in The Workman’s Club on April 28. For a chance to win, simply answer the following question:

What is the name of ARXX’s debut album?

The competition closes on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Winners will be contacted directly and shared on social media.
