Gay country singer Orville Peck has bared it all for Paper Magazine. As the publication’s latest cover star, he stripped down to his Stetson hat, signature eye mask, neck scarf, boots and gloves, sparking one particular phrase to spring to mind: “Save a horse, ride a cowboy”.
The images come courtesy of photographer Brett Loudermilk and were unveiled on social media on Tuesday, June 11. For the cover, Peck mounts a black latex bull while holding a blow-up trophy, and in another shot, the star is seen pointing a balloon pistol with his backside on show.

Meanwhile, a different photo shows the South African singer face-on with whipped cream covering his private parts as he stands in the middle of two oiled-up cowboys. A fourth shows him wearing a soaking-wet white t-shirt with two men by his side again.

Understandably, fans have been going wild over the photoshoot, with one saying: “Never wanted to be a bull so bad in my life”.
While others said, “I NEED THIS IN A POSTER SIZED AND HUNG UP IN MY LIVING ROOM,” someone else simply commented: “i need him”.
Even other brands got involved, with MTV writing: “i’m looking respectfully” and Grindr declaring: “that’s daddy”.

To accompany the images, Peck sat down with drag artist Gottmik for an equally insightful conversation between close friends. The ‘Dead of Night’ singer spilled the tea on being part of LGBTQ+ representation in country music, his new album Stampede, and shooting his shot with Kylie Minogue, who features on the upcoming record alongside the likes of Elton John and Noah Cyrus.
Speaking about sliding into the ‘Padam’ singer’s DMs, he said: “After Willie (Nelson) asked me to do our song together, the first person I reached out to trying to see if I could get a duet song together was Kylie Minogue… I was just kind of like, ‘Fuck it. I’m gonna shoot my shot.’”
On bringing something new to the country genre as an out gay man, he expressed: “I live and die for proving someone wrong…There’s nothing wrong with being a straight white man in country music. But like, babe, we’ve heard it.”
