Set to make its Irish premiere, the multi-award-winning show Moulin Rouge! The Musical will take over the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin in November 2025. Having won 10 Tony Awards, the musical is an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s revolutionary film Moulin Rouge!, released in 2001.

Get ready to enter a world of splendour and indulgent beauty with this hit show that makes Luhrmann’s timeless classic come to life on the stage. Celebrating over 160 years of music from Offenbach to Lady Gaga, the musical features over 70 iconic songs, including many from the original film and other recent hits released since it premiered over 20 years ago.

Set in 1899’s Paris, a world of unparalleled extravagance, Moulin Rouge! The Musical follows American writer Christian as he meets and falls in love with Satine, the dazzling star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub. As their love grows, obstacles emerge when the nightclub’s host, Harold Zidler, and The Duke of Monroth, the wealthy and entitled patron of the club, enter the scene.

The Duke believes he can buy anything he wants, including Satine herself. With the help of his Bohemian friends, brilliant and starving artist Toulouse-Lautrec and the greatest tango dancer in all of Paris, Santiago, Christian stages a spectacular show in an attempt to save the Moulin Rouge and win Satine’s heart.

In 2021, this incredible show won a total of 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, an Olivier Award, two Drama League Awards including Outstanding Production of a Musical, five Drama Desk Awards and 10 Outer Critics Circle Award Honor citations, including New Broadway Musical.

Speaking about its Irish premiere, producer of the show Carmen Pavlovic said: “We are thrilled that the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will host Moulin Rouge! The Musical next year as part of its world tour.

“Dublin is packed to the brim with music, creativity, and good craic!” Pavlovic continued. “A fantastic city which will make the perfect stage for this spectacular show over the festive season. We hope Ireland is ready to rouge!”

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set to take over the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from November 20, 2025, to January 11, 2026. Find out more here.
