Tributes pour in for beloved Drag Race star Jiggly Caliente who passed away 

Drag Race star Jiggly Caliente is remembered for her "artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans".

Beloved Drag Race star Jiggly Caliente, also known as Bianca Castro-Arabejo, passed away aged 44, her family confirmed on Sunday, April 27. After the news broke out, tributes started to pour in from fellow Drag Race alumni, friends and fans, who are remembering the artist for her authenticity and fierce attitude.

Jiggly Caliente took part in Season 4 of the original US Drag Race competition and was known for her fiery attitude. She also participated in the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, after coming out as trans in 2016. Bianca Castro additionally appeared in Ryan Murphy’s hit show Pose, starring as Veronica Ferocity.

A few days prior, her family shared news about her health in a social media post, saying that the drag artist had “undergone the loss of most of her right leg” due to a “severe infection”.

On Sunday, the family shared a second statement, confirming the death of the beloved drag queen. “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Bianca Castro-Arabejo, known to the world and cherished by many as Jiggly Caliente,” her family wrote.

“A luminous presence in the worlds of entertainment and advocacy, Jiggly Caliente was celebrated for her infectious energy, fierce wit, and unwavering authenticity.

“She touched countless lives through her artistry, activism, and the genuine connection she fostered with fans around the world.”

After the statement was shared online, tributes started to pour in on social media. The RuPaul’s Drag Race team took to Instagram to write: “We are devastated by the passing of Jiggly Caliente, a cherished member of the Drag Race family.

“Her talent, truth, and impact will never be forgotten, and her legacy will continue to slay –always. We’re holding her family, friends, and fans close in our hearts during this difficult time.”

Fellow Drag Race star Jinkx Monsoon shared: “Jiggly was so much person in one little body. She lived her life exactly how she wanted to— never taking a moment of it for granted. She always reminded me to be grateful for every little gift our blessed lives give us. She never complained about touring— she loved this life.”

Drag Race contestant Kennedy Davenport wrote: “To wake up to the news of my niece and dragrace sister Jiggly Caliente Brooks passing is heartbreaking. We didn’t talk much but every time we did it was like no time had passed between us. Rest in the arms of the Lord baby gurl.”
