This Pride Month, Irish LGBTQ+ charity ShoutOut has launched Generation Pride, a vibrant and uplifting campaign that puts the spotlight on some of Ireland’s most inspiring queer figures. Through a beautifully produced, yearbook-style video, the campaign introduces us to a standout “graduating class” of changemakers, each one celebrated for the unique mark they are making on Irish society.
The format is joyful and familiar. Think school yearbook meets queer excellence. Some of the standout names included in the campaign are bestselling author Naoise Dolan, dubbed “Most Likely to Write a Bestseller”, indie music icons Pillow Queens as “Most Likely to Sell Out a World Tour”, beloved TV presenter Zainab Boladale described as “Most Likely to Have Their Own Talk Show”, and community activist Jenny Maguire, crowned the fitting “Most Likely To Change The World”.
Each “graduate” is given a playful superlative that captures their passion, drive, and impact. But the message goes far deeper than just fun titles.
At a time when LGBTQ+ youth are navigating a rising tide of hostility both online and in the real world, Generation Pride offers an essential counterpoint: a message of hope, resilience, and representation. It’s a reminder that queer people are not just surviving, they’re thriving, leading, and creating futures filled with possibility.
“In a time when queer, trans, and non-binary young people are facing increasing backlash both online and offline, we wanted to create something uplifting and joy-filled,” said Ruadhán Ó Críodáin, Executive Director of ShoutOut and this year’s Grand Marshall at Dublin Pride. His words underscore the heart of the campaign: that joy itself can be a form of resistance.
The campaign will run throughout June, with each “graduate” being spotlighted on ShoutOut’s social media channels. Their stories full of talent, courage, humour, and heart are intended to inspire the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth and remind the wider public of the value and power of queer visibility.
In the spirit of Pride, Generation Pride doesn’t just celebrate where we’ve come from. It looks boldly to the future and invites us all to imagine a more inclusive, joyful world.
