Watch: Rosalía turns chastity belt into fashion moment in new music video

In La Perla, the pop star turns medieval nonsense, horny fashion and ex-proof armour into fashion.

Rosalía wearing a chastity belt in her new music video

If you found yourself squinting at Rosalía in her latest music video and thinking, is that a strap? Is that a chastity belt? Congratulations, you’re paying attention. In the video for La Perla, Rosalía casually strolls through Miami wearing what looks very much like a medieval chastity belt, styled with a cropped hoodie and low-rise trousers.

La Perla is Rosalía in fed-up mode. The song takes aim at a toxic ex she describes as a charming liar, a “peace thief” who coasts through life on vibes alone. Rather than cry about it, the video shows her preparing for battle. She kicks things off, fencing dramatically, then levels up by wearing a bite suit while walking two attack dogs. Later, she hits an ice rink in full hockey gear.

Still, nothing steals the show quite like the chastity belt. Traditionally (or at least according to history nonsense), these were the devices knights supposedly locked their wives into before heading off to war, a fantasy soaked in medieval machismo and control. The twist? Historians are pretty clear that chastity belts as a widespread practice never actually existed. They’re more myth than medieval fact, invented later to make the past seem extra grim.

Which makes Rosalía wearing one even funnier. Instead of symbolising ownership or restraint, it becomes exaggerated self-defence: a literal “you will not touch me” look. And in 2025, of course, chastity is far more likely to show up in kink spaces than in castles, adding another wink to the whole outfit.

The belt fits neatly into the medieval-meets-Catholic aesthetic of Rosalía’s recent album Lux, which draws on stories of rebellious, often violently martyred female saints. Rosalía channels that energy here, but with better styling and just a little less burning at the stake.

Naturally, fans on X were quick to point out that the Rosalía chastity belt looks suspiciously like something else if you let your imagination wander. With one fan pointing out, via X, “I thought it was a strap”. And honestly, that might just be the point. La Perla isn’t about modesty or morality, it’s about armour and irony.
