Queer Vision, an LGBTQ+ film festival, is set to take place in Waterford on February 6 and 7, marking its inaugural year as a standalone film festival, having previously been part of the Pride of the Déise programme.
Queer Vision 2026 will showcase a ton of current homegrown talent as well as international works. Lead organiser, Éadaoin Breathnach, said it “is more than a film festival; it’s a celebration of queer art, language, and culture.”
The festival aims to promote community and inclusion, to hold space for bilingual and Irish-language representation on screen, and to foster cultural connections across borders.
Featured this weekend are beautiful, moving, and hilarious short films showcasing the diversity of LGBTQ+ lived experiences. Included is An Talamh Faoi Gheasa by Pradeep Mahadeshwar, whose film Out of Shadows recently premiered at GCN and Poz Vibe Tribe’s World AIDS Day Festival 2025.
If you’re looking for an exquisitely produced laugh, look no further than Fr Brennan is Having a Breakdown, a delightful romp about a gay priest. The quietly devastating Ribbit features an original score by trans singer-songwriter and tearjerker-maker, Sammy Copley.
The festival will feature 3 screenings over Friday, 6 Feb and Saturday, 7 Feb, with the films listed below.
