George Takei poses with Yes Equality sign in New York, and it’s amazing.
The legendary Star Trek actor, George Takei, has been pictured with a Yes Equality sign in Times Square, New York.
This wonderful interaction happened all thanks to Stephen O’Farrell, an Irish man living in New York.
He told The Irish Examiner that he has been working on a film with Takei in the city and both Takei and his husband, Brad, discussed how they had been closely following the referendum in Ireland.
“I really wanted to find a way to help with the YES campaign in Ireland,” O’Farrell says.
“The perfect opportunity arose while I was working with George Takei on a film shoot in Time Square.”
“He and his husband Brad mentioned that they have been following the gay marriage referendum in Ireland closely and were looking for a way to show their support.
“Fortunately, I happened to have two Yes Equality signs with me…”
George Takei, 78, has been an advocate for gay rights for many years. Since publicly coming out in 2005 – and revealing that he had been with Brad for 18 years – he has been a public supporter of LGBT campaigns, along with being honoured by GLAAD.
