- San Francisco Symphony cancels concerts in North Carolina over anti-gay law. The Symphony announced the cancellation of a pair of concerts in April, in protest against the new state law curbing anti-discrimination protections for LGBT community. “We would have loved to perform at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a community that in many ways is consonant with our own San Francisco Bay Area,” said the music director Michael Tilson Thomas, who was part of a new generation of classical musicians who spoke openly about being gay. - Philippines in H.I.V. crisis after failing to provide for L.G.B.T. community. Human rights groups warn that the Philippines could face an escalating HIV epidemic due to their Government’s failure to provide safer-sex care for men who have sex with men. John Krokidas, the director of the film which had the famous gay sex scene, felt “that not including his sexuality as part of the story would be a crime.” He also praised Radcliffe during the scene “God bless Daniel Radcliffe, he commits to all of his actions.” (Out)
