“If anyone needs me I will be sitting down in my shower crying”
Kylie fans were left heartbroken yesterday evening as the pop princess announced the cancellation of her Dublin and Belfast dates due to a throat infection, but some of the internet reactions were priceless.
When the Spinning Around songstress announced that the shows were not going ahead, little did she know that she had basically just announced the apocalypse.
She said in an Instagram post:
“I’m so sorry to let you know that I can’t do tonight’s Dublin or tomorrow’s Belfast shows. I’ve been trying everything possible to be well enough to perform for you but a throat infection has led to vocal strain.”
Earlier in the day, fans had been tweeting about their excitement to see the pop idol’s Golden tour.
So here we go myself already for Kylie’s golden tour in Dublin tonight . pic.twitter.com/cie7C4bPqu

After the news of the show’s cancellation broke, the dramatic effect of the news took its toll on Kylie fans.
Group of people crying in my hotel … turns out they’ve travelled via coach all day from Scotland to see Kylie who has cancelled both her Ireland gigs. #dublin #ireland #KylieMinogue ?

While some fans had some interesting political theories about the revelations…

Other fans gave their top tips to a sickly Kylie.

While this poor woman was in disbelief.

Some noticed the irony of the situation and pointed out Kylie’s song I Was Gonna Cancel. Maybe this was some kind of warning…

Kylie was gonna cancel… and then she did. https://t.co/jm7TUGalwA

Although the news was rather upsetting, some fans may have taken their frustration a bit too far.
Sore throat my ballix, no need to cancel, packet of strepsils and you’re good to go

Unbelievable disappointment & honestly unprofessional. To be on the train enroute to concert with hotel booked & looking forward to concert!! Then Kylie decided to cancel at 2.30PM !!NOT THE BEST WAY TO TREAT UR LOYAL FANS!!@kylieminogue

But most of Kylie’s fans were understanding of the poorly pop star’s situation.
Im a REAL fan and know how professional you are and this must really upset you to have to cancel shows. Please ignore the negative comments that were inevitably going to happen from people who don’t know you or your incredible work ethic quite like your real fans do ❤️❤️

Kylie, I am so sorry that you are getting all of these awful messages. Your most loyal fans know that you NEVER cancel unless it’s bad. You don’t need these hurtful & hateful messages. There are a vast majority of us that love you & wish you a speedy recovery #TheLoversUnited ?

Fans should not fret too much though, as the singer assured us that she will be returning to perform in Ireland soon, and promised that “the Guinness will be on me!”
I promise I’ll be back as soon as possible and at 100%. (The Guinness will be on me!)
We’re working on rescheduling and more details will follow.
I’m so, so sorry to let you down and thank you for your understanding. 2/2— Kylie Minogue (@kylieminogue) October 7, 2018
Rescheduled dates are yet to be confirmed, but concert promoters have advised to hold on to their tickets. Aiken Promotions wrote on their website, “Aiken Promotions apologise for any inconvenience and ask ticket holders to please hold onto their tickets while they work to reschedule the dates.”
