Yamamori Tengu And Discotekken Are Offering A Unique Theatre And Dining Experience This Week

You are out for dinner in a quiet Asian restaurant, sat next to the only other people there. These people are discussing what to do with the family estate…VERY loudly. Everyone has a family member who isn’t afraid to air their dirty laundry. This family has three. A brother and two sisters meet to discuss how best to divide their deceased parent’s possessions, what could possibly go wrong?

Some might argue conversations like these are best done in a private space, for the wellbeing of these squabbling siblings perhaps a public place is just the ticket.

Jill McKeagney, Tengu Theatre & Discotekken invite you to FORTUNE, a unique dining and theatre experience, located in a relaxed environment in one of Dublin’s favourite restaurants.

Audience members will receive one of Yamamori’s renowned bento boxes and a house cocktail, while they dine alongside our cast as this hilarious family drama unfolds. None of them will leave until they get what they deserve.

Fortune was first performed as part of Scene & Heard Festival at Smock Alley Theatre in February 2018 and sold out both nights. The show will have four different performances over three days from Wednesday 23 – Friday 25 January.

Written and directed by Jill McKeagney and featuring members of the LGBT+ community in the cast, Fortune is set to be a unique theatre experience that is constantly evolving to allow for experimentation in different settings.

Speaking to nomoreworkhorse.com, Jill said, “I think it’s fun to try it in new places and see how the piece adapts and changes depending on its surroundings. I also think it would work equally well in a traditional theatre space, though it would be a different experience.”

It is hoped that this is only the start of such a unique theatre experience in Dublin.

Fortune at Tengu Theatre runs from Wednesday, January 23 until Friday, January 25. If you choose to come on Friday, tickets include all of the above, plus a late night after-party hosted by Discotekken, with disco-dancing ’til 3am.
