The video, which has amassed 381,484 views so far – and, no doubt litres of tears, because it is flat-out adorable – was released on July 25 by Essex-based YouTuber OliverVloggs (real name Oliver Potter).
The video shows Oliver gently explaining to his precious younger brother, Alfie, that he is gay.
“Alf, the reason for this video is that I wanted to have a conversation with you. We’re going to talk about love,” begins Oliver.
“How do you think about love? Do you think boy, girl, marriage, baby?”
“How would it make you feel if I married a man?”asks Oliver.
“If you married a man,” says the youngster after a thoughtful pause, “it’s going to be so cool because I saw it in one movie…and in one movie, a man was in love with another man and then everyone was saying ‘cool, cool’ in that video.
“Love is love, love is love,” chirps Alfie.
“You’re adorable, do you know that?” adds the obviously proud Oliver.
Oliver then asks Alfie if he would be okay with his big brother marrying a man. “Yes,” answers the sage youngster. “Love means love.”
“There’s no room for hate,” he adds while doing a little swaying dance with his brother.
Although it is a little unclear from the video, the cutest moment is when Oliver explains that a woman is needed for a baby. “So you know that a man being with a man, they can’t have their own children, because only mummies can make the wish,” Oliver explains.
“When you have a baby, you’ll get the ones who got lost,” says the child, evidently referring to adoption.
At the end of the 3 and a half minute long video, Oliver admits to being “a bit surprised” but Alfie keeps things professional by encouraging viewers to subscribe to big brother’s YouTube channel, @OliverVlogss.
Oliver responded to the outpouring of positivity in a comment below the video. “Sooooo much love in the air! Thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to watch this and comment and like it and share it haha. [sic]”
“So Alfie wants his own channel ? WHAT HAVE I CREATED!”
Equality: so simple, a five year-old can grasp the concept in less than 3 minutes.
