Chain restaurant Nando’s has suspended a member of staff in Northern Ireland for posting homophobic comments on his Facebook page.

Steven McKee, who works at the Victoria Square branch in Belfast wrote, “Raging I’ve to work the day, shops gonna be packed with gay bastards wearing hot pants, despise these bastards”.

He made the comments on July 31, before Belfast Pride. It is reported by PinkNews that several customers made complaints about the comment.

McKee demonstrated further prejudice, revealing that he was unable to secure an airport job, saying “I’ve a five year caution for one stupid night drenching a chinky in milk and no hope of getting the job, the application got a dick drew all over it and sent on it’s way”.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Nando’s confirmed, “We have suspended this member of staff yesterday because of this, we will not tolerate prejudice of any kind. Nando’s is for everyone”.
