On July 3, Bratz released an adorable short animation on their social media depicting lesbian couple, Roxxi and Nevra, being proudly sapphic. They are seen lying on a heart that has the colours of the lesbian flag, walking hand in hand with balloons and having a cute picnic date. The caption reads “Pride Month may be over but Roxxi + Nevra are 4evra”.

The post is receiving a largely positive response, with many members of the LGBTQ+ community praising the brand for their queer representation, especially when it is so rare in the industry of children’s toys and media.

Roxxi and Nevra are far from a new pairing, as Bratz first announced them as an official couple via social media in 2020, with the caption “Steppin’ out and coming out! Nevra and Roxxi are sharing their super stylin’ pride! Happy Pride Month from the whole Bratz pack”.

In October 2021, they also released an image of the couple on a haunted house date for National Coming Out Day.

During Pride 2022, a special bundle featuring these icons was released in collaboration with fashion designer Jimmy Paul, with the dolls dressed in rainbow-coloured Jimmy Paul clothing. You can find this collection on the fashion brand’s website.

The description is as follows: “For the first time ever, Roxxi and Nevra are steppin’ out and comin’ out at the Stilesville Pride rally! These girlfriendz with a passion for fashion are fighting for and celebrating love in all forms.”

The set also contains Pride-themed accessories such as a megaphone and protest signs reading “queer and unapologetic” and “ugh, I can’t even think straight”. As part of this special release, MGA Entertainment donated $25,000 to the LGBTQ+ non-profit organisation, The Trevor Project.

This shows that the brand isn’t simply using Roxxi and Nevra as a shallow ploy for publicity but is actively committed to supporting the community. Reflecting this, Jimmy Paul shared, “My hope is that the collection brings a glimpse of hope and power and serves as a reminder of both the vibrancy of the community and the gravity of LGBTQ+ affairs today.”

Roxxi and Ezra have been a long-standing example of queer representation that the Bratz brand has continuously developed upon. Their marketing as an openly lesbian couple normalises queerness in children’s toys and media, showing a new generation that it is okay to be who you are.

This new queer Bratz animation is sure to make you smile, so make sure to check it out on their social media!
