A British man awaiting sentencing in Uganda for possessing a gay sex video is to be deported, a court has ruled.
Bernard Randall, a 65 year-old from Kent, was arrested after thieves stole a laptop containing the video from his house. Afterwards, stills from the video appeared in a tabloid newspaper, reports the BBC.
Randall, who faced a two-year jail sentence if found guilty, first appeared in court in November.
Judge Hellen Aijo ordered that Randall must be deported within 12 hours.
Also arrested in November was Albert Cheptoyek, 30, a Ugandan national with whom Randall shares a house. Cheptoyek has denied a charge of carrying out “acts of gross indecency”, which could see him jailed for up to seven years if found guilty.
