Bruce Jenner, Patriarch of the infamous Kardashian/Jenner family, was involved in a fatal car crash in LA this weekend, leaving one driver dead.
On Saturday afternoon, Bruce Jenner rear-ended a car as they drove down Pacific Coast Highway – the crash involved three cars, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
However, Jenner was left unharmed and declined treatment at the scene. The TV star also passed a field sobriety test at the scene of the crash and even volunteered to go to the hospital for further blood alcohol testing.
The only fatality was that of 69 year-old Kim Howe, of Calbasas – the accident began when a woman in a Toyota Prius stopped or slowed down and was rear-ended by a woman in a Lexus. Jenner, in a Cadillac Escalade pulling a trailer, then rear-ended the Lexus, according to the Los Angeles Times. The collision pushed the Lexus into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Hummer.
Jenner made a statement shortly after the crash:
“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident. It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
TMZ reported that members of the Jenner family said Bruce was being chased by as many as five paparazzi at the time of the crash.
Deputies later told the Times that Jenner was being followed by paparazzi, but was probably not trying to outrun them.
“He is cooperating fully with the authorities and any details relating to the accident will need to come from them at this time,” Alan Nierob, a representative for Jenner, said.
Bruce Jenner’s life has recently – even moreso – been the subject of speculation in the media, with an apparent transition from male to female.
On Saturday evening, as police attempted to clear the scene, a 44 year-old man plowed into two of the abandoned cars after inbibing alcohol.
Currently, authorities are checking the phone records of the motorists involved to confirm that no one was texting whilst behind the wheel.
This story just keeps getting worse and worse.
