The Community Foundation for Ireland, a philanthropic organisation which supports charities and communities across the country, are looking for people interested in joining focus groups to discuss LGBT+ fundraising.
With five informal focus groups to take place, this Wednesday September 12 will see Wynn’s Hotel on Lower Abbey Street play host to the discussions.
Under the heading ‘Wills and Legacies Focus Group’ the 5pm group will focus on future funding for older LGBT+ people and LGBT+ charities and how these areas could be supported by charitable bequests in wills. Time permitting, the group may also look at others sectors, such as the arts and environment.
Earlier groups will be more general – focussed on wills and bequests re: older people. Discussions should prove to be hugely interesting as this is certainly not an everyday topic for most.
GCN has received much appreciated support from the Community Foundation for Ireland as it provides grants through its LGBT+ Fund to many LGBT+ voluntary groups across Ireland. Recently, they provided seed funding for ‘Proof: 30 Years Of Gay Community News’ – a major exhibition celebrating 30 years of your community magazine.
There are a variety of hugely important and necessary happenings, events and charities which could not have taken place without the kind support of the Community Foundation, so participants in the focus groups can know their input is vital and much appreciated.
It's overwhelming looking at the last 15 years of my career editing @GCNmag at our exhibition, 'Proof: 30 Years of Gay Community News' at the Gallery of Photography (until July 1). What a privilege and honour it is! #GCN30 #LGBTIreland #DublinPride #Ireland pic.twitter.com/E2JPC9rWEA

GCN has been a vital, free-of-charge information service for Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community since 1988.
During this global COVID pandemic, we like many other organisations have been impacted greatly in the way we can do business and produce. This means a temporary pause to our print publication and live events and so now more than ever we need your help to continue providing this community resource digitally.
GCN is a registered charity with a not-for-profit business model and we need your support. If you value having an independent LGBTQ+ media in Ireland, you can help from as little as €1.99 per month. Support Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
