The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is making its triumphant return on May 6 this year, running until May 19 with a wonderful array of events, including 23 productions from Ireland and around the world celebrating creativity, storytelling and diversity. Among the wonderful plays in this year’s programme are Lewd and Lascivious Acts and GC…AF, which promise to be among the highlights of the festival. The great news is that GCN has two pairs of tickets to the Opening Night Performance of these two amazing shows to give away to our lucky readers!

Each year, the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival celebrates the artistry and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, inviting queer artists to share their stories and experiences. In 2024, the festival is gearing up to celebrate its 21st edition, with a programme that highlights cultural exchanges and international collaborations.

The play Lewd and Lascivious Acts by Danny Partington promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s festival, posing the following questions: “Can two young gay men survive the rise of the Nazis in Germany in the 1930s?”

Following the protagonists as they leave behind the freedom of the best gay scene in 1930s Europe to face the horrors of the concentration camp, the play is a timely reminder of the price that minority groups pay when extreme circumstances arise. It tells an enduring love story set against a backdrop of increasing persecution and rising hate.

The show opens on May 6 in the Teachers Club Main Hall at 7.30pm. After that at 9pm, the Teachers Club will host the opening performance for GC… AF, described as “a scathing satire of the so-called Gender Critical movement”.

Created by the writer of 2023’s award-winning IDGTF play The War Wounded, Garret Baker, the performance will include arguments on the discourse on the “gender ideology debate” that crams our social media every day.

For more information on the full programme of this year’s International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, have a look at their website. Tickets to the 7.30pm show of Lewd and Lascivious Acts on May 6 are available here, while tickets to the 9pm show of GC… AF can be purchased here.

But for a chance to win a free pair of tickets to these two shows, simply answer the following question:
