Eurovision 2014 winner Conchita Wurst will be on The Graham Norton Show tonight, making her first UK television appearance since last Saturday’s victory.
The bearded Austrian, who caused outrage amongst homophobic Russian politicians upon her win, was interviewed for tonight’s show, but will not perform. Instead, taking to the stage UK artist Sam Smith, best known for his contribution to Disclosure’s breakthrough hit Latch.
The 25 year-old drag queen will reveal how she was sent a bouquet of flowers by Sir Elton John in recognition of her triumph, as well as her ambition to “win a Grammy”.
Norton, who was the commentator on the UK’s Eurovision broadcast, tweeted of how he was on a “Conchita High” after pre-recording the interview today. The Cork-native told the Irish Independent: “I remember not wanting to be gay and I remember being afraid I was and hoping it was a phase and hanging on to the bisexual tag for a long time”.
The Graham Norton Show is broadcast tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One. Also appearing on the show tonight is comedienne Dawn French, survivalist Bear Grylls and actress Kirsten Dunst.
