Drag sensation Orla Nothin’ is gearing up for an extraordinary year of charity work, as she embarks on a mission to run five marathons across Ireland, Wales, England, Scotland and France.

During the upcoming 12 months, Orla will raise funds for multiple charities, including the Alzheimer’s Society, UNICEF Ireland, and Terrence Higgins Trust. These organisations support individuals affected by dementia, aid children in need, and fight against HIV and AIDS, respectively.

Camberwell-based drag star is renowned for her drag performances and her activism. She started her professional journey at London’s iconic Royal Vauxhall Tavern and later became the first UK drag queen on Say Yes to the Dress Lancs. Other TV contributions include working with organisations like Pride in London and the BBC.

In addition to her on-screen success, Orla is an accomplished creator, starring in and creating the award-winning web series Derek & Orla Do, a semi-finalist at the London International Webfest and winner at the New York Movie Awards.

Her experience on stage includes numerous theatrical productions, such as Drag Baby at The Southwark Playhouse & Pleasance Theatre London or Drag Storytime with Clip Theatre Company.

“I’m so excited for this challenge,” Orla said. “Running five marathons in five countries is no easy feat (even though I’m used to running around in 8-inch heels), but I’ve always believed that the drag community is about more than just performance—it’s about giving back and making a difference. These incredible charities are doing vital work, and I’m honoured to contribute in my own unique way.”

Her comedy and real-life partner, actor Derek Murphy, said: “Orla has always been a force of nature in the entertainment industry, and this is yet another way she is using her voice and influence to do good in the world. We are incredibly proud to support her in this endeavour.”

This marathon challenge marks the next step for Orla, having previously been involved in 4 half marathons in support of good causes. Among other charity initiatives, she also jumped out of an airplane in drag to raise funds for Stonewall.

Orla’s marathon challenge kicks off on April 13, in Paris, France, with subsequent events planned across the UK and Ireland. Dublin will be her 4th marathon.

Witnessing members of the community fighting to make a better world is so fulfilling and inspiring. Fans and supporters can follow Orla Nothin’s’ journey across her YouTube channel and Instagram as she takes on the challenge. Her page is still live and accepting donations.
