RuPaul’s Drag Race stars completely stole the show at the MTV Video Music Awards last night.
The MTV Video Music Awards have become somewhat of an annual pop culture mega-event. Every year, the biggest pop stars and media personalities turn up and rub shoulders with each other – congratulating themselves on being beautiful and mega-rich and always trying to one up last year’s VMA moment.
Lest we forget Miley’s cringeworthy Robin Thicke duet of 2013, or the Madonna and Britney kiss of 2003. What about Kanye coining the phrase “Imma let you finish…” during a young Taylor Swift’s speech in 2009 or Madonna’s Like a Virgin wedding dress performance all the way back in 1984.
Well last nights ceremony was no different. Bieber cried, Kanye announced his presidential run, Taylor won loads of awards and premiered her new video, Miley pulled a Beyoncé and dropped a new surprise album… and probably the most exciting, 30 RuPaul’s Drag Race stars closed out the show complete with confetti cannons.
An army of drag queens and Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips performed Dooo It! with Miley Cyrus – a stoner anthem from her aforementioned surprise album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz.
Watch out for Shangela, Latrice Royale, Carmen Carrera, Vivacious, Willam, Gia Gunn, Miss Fame, Jiggly Caliente, Pandora Boxx, Sharon Needles, Alyssa Edwards, Courtney Act, Pearl, and many, MANY more.
