Ellen reveals plot for Disney Pixar’s ‘Finding Dory’ – and it looks like it’s making a powerful stand against SeaWorld.

It’s been a long 13 years since we first met Dory, the forgetful sidekick to Marlin the clownfish in 2003’s Finding Nemo. But the long awaited sequel, which centres entirely around Dory, is set for release next year. Ellen Degeneres, who plays the voice of Dory, has revealed that in the sequel Dory will be on the hunt for her parents. She also hinted that the plot will include a powerful message against keeping sea creatures captive.

The chat show host and comedian told Yahoo movies, “Dory is searching for her parents – she realises [she] has parents – and comes across some characters who are somewhat helpful.”

She hinted that the film will also make a stand against tourist parks like SeaWorld, which has been under fire for it’s treatment of their sea mammals, as documented in the film Blackfish.

“I think that fish should be in the ocean… It’s what this whole sequel is about. It’s about rehabilitation and putting them back in the ocean.

“We have to protect our oceans. Hopefully that discussion starts with this film, because we really need to protect that environment.”

Finding Dory is set for release on June 17, 2016.
