A 26 year-old Russian man has announced plans to have sex with a different person every day for a year – and it’s all for the sake of art.
Mischa Badasyan, a performance artist and activist, will embark on his ‘Save the Date’ project, which he says will challenge ideas of sexuality in the age on Grindr, Scruff and similar dating apps.
Badasyan, who presently resides in Berlin, will turn supermarkets and motorways into “places of real human connection through having sex there”. He has not addressed how he will deal with the obvious legal consequences that would arise from such behaviour.
Speaking to Mic.com, Badasyan told how his time living in Glasgow inspired the project, “I would go to the park every night and have sex with guys…until 5 o’clock, 6 o’clock in the morning…and I always felt very bad. I was crying all the time”.
The performance artists continued, “It’s easier for a gay man to do this kind of project. It’s why I feel lonely. Straight people don’t have these kind of applications, in terms of cruising sex clubs, they don’t have as many opportunities as gay people”.
Addressing the criticism the project has been met with by some, he explained, “I don’t deny that it’s a bit egotistic”, said of his mission, which will start in September. “It’s performance art, and a performance artist should always be pushing his own body”.
