Star of Disney’s Frozen, Idina Menzel, who plays the ice queen Elsa thinks that an LGBT Disney queen sought by the #GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign is a great idea
Disney’s Frozen broke box office charts to position itself in the top ten highest grossing movies of all time! With such cultural clout, it’s no surprise that the LGBT community are calling for representation in the sequel Frozen 2 (2018), with the # GiveElsaAGirlfriend campaign gaining attention from star Idina Menzel.
The singer of the ear worming hit original song ‘Let It Go’ told ET: “I think it’s great. Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.”
Idina Menzel who is probably best known as the voice of Elsa in Frozen, is also known for her roles in the movies Rent, Enchanted and as the gorgeously green Elphaba in the broadway musical Wicked.
Idina is no stranger to playing an LGBT character on the silver screen. In Rent she played the lesbian character Maureen Johnson, so it comes as no surprise that she would be on board to GiveElsaAGirlfriend.
While Twitter has been lit up with people proclaiming that an LGBT Disney queen would be amazing, others have taken to the internet to campaign against such a progressive move, calling the campaign absurd.

So with Idina on board for this, what are the odds Disney will have a same-sex love interest for their reigning queen?
