The poignant, heartfelt cover of Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ by JD Kelleher and Peter M Smith climbs the Irish charts.

Ahead of the referendum on May 22, JD Kelleher and Peter M Smith released a beautiful rendition of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart last week.

The track is now number one on the ROCK charts, and steadily climbing the Irish singles chart.

Speaking about the marriage equality referendum, Peter said, “Irish people need to stand united. We cannot be complacent and expect everyone else to go out and vote!

“Like our music, we are only as strong as the voice we give ourselves! It’s time to grab the platform and show the country that Equality is something that we demand for all Irish citizens!”

JD said, who is gay, added,  “When we vote Yes to Equality – and it is the only answer as far as I’m concerned – we will be honouring our forefathers and our foremothers who fought and died to establish our Independence as a nation, and we will be honouring ourselves.”
