Jennifer Lopez’s music video for new single ‘Ain’t Your Mama’ tells women to stand up for themselves and make sure men don’t take advantage of them.
In this music video Lopez plays various incarnations of women who have been subjugated by men throughout the decades.
Each embodiment of Jennifer, from the 50s through the 80s, sees men taking advantage of her. The Latin star also plays a woman on the news broadcasting the message in the lyrics to the different decades of women. Her message is stand up for yourself, don’t let men take advantage of you and tell them that “I ain’t your mama”.
In the background of the song, a sample of US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s iconic 1995 “Women’s Rights Are Human Rights” speech can be heard, underpinning the message of the song.
Present day Jennifer is killing some choreography in a skintight white jumpsuit with Manolo Blahnik boots that were gifted by Rihanna!
So besides the empowering message to women, the music video shows us that JLo would look great in any decade! Now, who want’s to learn the dance?!
