California hitmaker Katy Perry has launched a new record label, Metamorphosis Records, and signed long time friend Ferras.
Metamorphosis Records, a subsidiary label of Capitol Records, was announced over Instagram by the singer last night. She also announced that openly gay singer/songwriter Ferras is the first artist to release music with the label. His new self-titled EP was subsequently released, and features his duet with Perry, Legends Never Die. He will also join his friend on her Prismatic World Tour from next week.
Both Katy and Ferras announced the news over their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The Los Angeles musician, born Ferras Alqaisi, has been known around the scene for some years. In 2008 he released his debut album Angels and Rainbows, which failed to take off commercially. Despite having little success as a solo artist so far, Ferras has penned songs for the likes of Ricky Martin and Adam Lambert.
Ferras and Katy have been friends for years, having both been struggling artists before her career had taken off. Notably, the two performed Ferras’ track Rush at SXSW Festival in 2009.
