‘Love A La Mode’ comedy comes to Smock Alley Theatre as part of the Scene + Heard festival

Presented by KNAVES, Love à la Mode will be performed as part of the Scene + Heard festival this weekend in Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre.

KNAVES are a “troupe of performers, designers, pretenders and tricksters. We are here to perplex and disturb, to play with story and truth.

“In February 2017, we are inviting the general public to join in a little mirth as we turn Macklin’s classic farce Love à la Mode on it’s head.”

About Love à la Mode

Directed by Colm Summers (Gays Against the Free State!), the production is one of the few fully produced, hour-long productions in the festival.

If a re-imagined Love à la Mode sounds like a show you’d simply adore to see, a press release for the show details what can be expected from the 18th century inspired piece of theatre:

Love à la Mode, is a farce in two acts: you will witness some lies, sword-fights, slapstick, and assorted song-and-dance routines. The production is part of the Scene + Heard Festival in Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre and will be an uproarious nod to the theatre’s 18th-century past. It will also be the creative cornerstone of The Irish and London Stage, an international conference in Trinity College on the Irish contribution to the development of London’s theatrical world over the course of the eighteenth century.”

Love à la Mode Performances

The show will be running for three days, with four performances in total.

Love à la Mode has two evening performances in Smock Alley Boys School on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 February at 7:45pm, and two matinée performances on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 February at 3pm.

Tickets for the show are available on the Smock Alley website for €12 (€10 concession).
