New York State senate passed a bill repealing a ban on MMA (mixed martial arts), despite one politician likening it to “gay porn with a different ending.”

The politician in question Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell, openly gay brother of Rosie O’Donnell, told the New York State Assembly that the sport features “two nearly naked hot guys” rolling around in a cage trying to dominate each other and is like “gay porn with a different ending.”

He concluded by saying he would take a “cold shower” and hope that the ban would remain in place.

“If I wanted to see half naked men fighting in a cage over a belt and purse, I’d go to Fire Island,” said Assemblyman Matthew Titone

Other Assembly members also expressed their disapproval of the sport which has increased enormously in popularity over the years thanks to high-profile proponents like Conor McGregor. “If I wanted to see half naked men fighting in a cage over a belt and purse, I’d go to Fire Island,” said Assemblyman Matthew Titone.

Others raised various concerns from the increase of violence and the unknown longterm physical damage caused by the sport to the potential infiltration of paedophiles eager to molest aspiring young MMA atheletes, reports USA Today.

Despite objections, the bill yesterday and is due to be signed by Governor Cuomo this week, making New York the last U.S state to legalise MMA.
